Almine Rech announces new gallery in Paris

PARIS
.-Almine Rech announced the opening of its second gallery in Paris, to be located on the prestigious Avenue Matignon in the 8th arrondissement, an area that has long been home to a prominent community of art galleries, auction houses, cultural attractions.
The inaugural show at Almine Rech Paris | Matignon will be a solo exhibition of new paintings by iconic American artist Kenny Scharf, titled Vaxi Nation opening January 21, 2021. The gallery is located in an elegant Haussmann building and is situated on the ground and first floors, both of which will be dedicated to exhibition spaces in which to present the gallerys roster of international artists and secondary market works in a new context within the city. Albahie to hold ‘Mal Lawal’ auction today

Doha: Albahie Auction House will kick off the new year by hosting the ‘Mal Lawal’ auction today at 7:30 pm at Katara Cultural Village.
All the lots included in the auction are currently available for the preview exhibition at the auction house’s permanent exhibition space, Katara Cultural Village, Building 22C.
The auction will consist of 122 lots from the grace of old Qatari days, a fine collection chosen to remind people of a great time.

.- The office of the Architect of the Capitol in Washington, the office that preserves and maintains the buildings art and architecture, released Friday the first inventory of the damage sustained during Wednesdays riot.
Damage to the interior of the building was largely limited to broken glass, broken doors and graffiti, the report said, although it noted that statues, murals and historic benches displayed the residue of various pepper sprays, tear gas and fire extinguishers deployed by both rioters and law enforcement personnel. They will need to be carefully cleaned and conserved, the report said.
